10/12 - 10/13 (1.5 hours): Begin the process of selecting a topic. Start to narrow your focus. You may want to look over the curriculum articulation to find topics that we have covered as your IA, including topics from HOTA. You may not reuse your practice IA from Junior year.
By 10/16 - 10/17 : A refined question must be developed. You should also have gathered 3-4 sources that are related to your topic (with annotation).
Due date: 10/18 annotated bibliography of 7 sources. Be sure these come from scholarly articles, books, or primary sources only. Standard webpages will not suffice.
10/19- 10/20: You should have begun the process of developing your investigation through an outline of your arguments and evidence you will use to support your argument (think back to the outlines from the Best book).
10/23-10/24: You should have gathered 7 more sources by this point and included them in your planning outline.
Due date: 10/25 planning outline of your IA due with 14 sources included. An updated annotated bibliography with 14 sources due.

We will revisit our IA's in the Spring. 9 days of in class time = 12 hours of work on your IA if you use your class time wisely. You will have 8 hours in the Spring to refine and finish up the actual paper in class, as well, as we approach the first draft due date Feb. 14.
